Composer Brian Carmody Records his score for “Somm” Writer/Director Jason Wise’s upcoming doc about training to become a sommelier. A really fun day in the studio with 10 pieces- great writing and great playing!

“Somm” will be the opening night film at the Napa Valley Film Festival on November 7. Salud!

The trailer is on here from a few months ago. We’re gonna screen in L.A. and New York on June 1st. In L.A. it screens at the NoHo Laemmle, in NY I’m not so sure. But the film is one I’m proud of- a really terrific performance by Stacey Keach- completely chewing everything in sight in wide-angle splendor, and really good Tom Sizemore and Hector Jimenez performances too.

Composer Craig Richey and accordion legend Frank Marocco at the knob recording Craig’s score for “Girl On A Bike.” Frank told us his first score was “Dr Zhivago” Not a bad start, eh?

A sad post script to this: Frank passed away on March 3, 2012. He was a wonderful player, deeply musical, and humble as only a true master can be. I’m so lucky to have gotten to work with him on a couple of occasions.

This is Rozalia. They just recorded their first album at the Knob in November. Beautiful- Piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, trumpet/flugel horn and vocals performing all original compositions by pianist Nikos Syropoulos and collaborators that marry jazz idioms and chamber music.

further Dollface news- Colin felt like he had about a seven minute movie as opposed to the five that was required for the Weekend Shorts Competition. So he and Molly went back and added in all the shots they had to leave out. It makes a great little 7 minute short.

I redid the music to fit the new cut and I think it is much better. at least it was written to picture this time!

I will post up a link here when we put it up.

Here’s the finished version of the movie- all done in 48 hours. We are in the competition despite a server crash on the contest site while we were uploading. By the way- there are bars and tones at the beginning- a submission requirement- so watch your volume when the movie starts to play.
